Carol Gaye Garrison Sprague is the oldest of the Garrison children and as T. Ed describes her "the smart one." She graduated from T. L. Hanna High School in 1974 and graduated Clemson University in Civil Engineering in 1978 and later received her masters in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Transportation.
Gaye is a consulting traffic engineer for her company Sprague and Sprague Consulting Engineers in Greenville . In 2006 she was named Engineer of the Year by the Piedmont Chapter of the S. C. Society of Professional Engineers. She also stays busy with community volunteer activities and Westminster Presbyterian.
Joel, as part of his work for TRI Environment, is operating an erosion control product testing facility on the farm.
Gaye and C. Joel Sprague were married in 1980. They have 2 sons. Jay graduated Clemson University in 2008 and is working for Pennington Seed in Columbia . Gaye and Joel's younger son, Ben, graduated from Greenville High School in 2007 and attended Clemson University majoring in engineering that fall. Tragedy struck the family on December 9, 2007, when Ben died unexpectedly while at Clemson. He is treasured by all who knew him. A scholarship has been established in his name at Clemson University.
